Steve Sokol with his award

Steve Sokol

The Rotarians On The Internet, or ROTI, is pleased to announce that Steve Sokol has been named Rotian of the Year. Steve joins a special group of six others that have received this recognition:

2001/02 Philip Merritt, Philippines
2002/03 Carlos Morales Venezuela
2003/04 Chip Ross, Canada
2004/05 George K.M. Chin, Malaysia
2005/06 Todd Lindley, United States
2006/07 Robin Chapple, Australia

And now for 2007/08 Steve Sokol of the Rotary Club of Seneca in District 7750 is proudly added to that list.

The mission of ROTI is to apply modern information technology to enhance Rotary service, fellowship and knowledge, and to use Internet communications to further world understanding and peace.

The entire ROTI membership is pleased that Steve Sokol will not only carry the recognition of District 7750, but of ROTIans around the world. Thank you Steve for the dedication you have provided to ROTI in the many critical roles you have played and the assistance given since our inception.

Steve was on the board during Philip Merritt’s term as ROTI Chair and developed our ROTI’s web pages, and then came back to the board during Art's term as Sgt at Arms and continued in that position for Ron's term. He has also spent a long time as publisher of our monthly bulletin, The Breadbasket.

From Myles R. Golden, District Governor 2007 - 2008, Greenville, South Carolina 29615, USA:

"We are as excited as can be with the choice of Steve Sokol to be the Rotarian of The Year by the Fellowship of Rotarians on The Internet. He is a remarkable Rotarian. What he does just for our district is unbelievable. Just today at our assembly I asked the membership to give him a standing ovation for what he does for our district. FYI  I was not aware of his involvement with Rotarians On The Internet. Not surprised! He is just one of those dedicated Rotarians that quietly goes about his business doing any and every thing we ask of him."

Well done, Steve, you are a great ROTIan. Thanks for all you do for ROTI.
