ROTIan of the Year
Robin Chapple
ROTI is pleased to honour Robin Chapple of the Rotary Club of Diamond Creek, Australia as ROTIan of the Year for 2006-7.
ROTI members lead the way in showing the rest of Rotary how the Internet has increased the speed and efficiency of communication to other Rotarians, so that programs which will alleviate hunger, illiteracy, disease and hopelessness are now being expedited to the advantage of all.
Each year the 1,000 member-strong Fellowship, Rotarians on the Internet, selects from amongst its members one Rotarian who exemplifies the ideals of the Fellowship. This Rotarian is designated ”ROTIan of the Year.”
This year’s recipient is our Mentor and Membership Chairman. He is a tireless champion of International cooperation and a wise advisor to all.
Robin joined Round table in 1957 and was Chairman in 1970. He served on the District Council for three years.
In 1967 he joined the Rotary club of Cheshunt and Waltham Cross, District 113 (England), where he was very active in Community Service. He emigrated to Australia in 1983 soon was a member of District 9810’s RC of Donvale. He then moved and joined the Rotary Club of Eltham in District 9790. Robin has held all of the service chairmanships, secretary, and was President for the advent of the new millennium. In 1998 he was recognized as a Paul Harris Fellow by his club for his contributions to Rotary.
At the District level Robin has served on a number of committees and launched the first District web page in 1996 and has been District Webmaster continuously ever since.
Robin is a member and Director of three Rotary fellowships, the International Computer users Fellowship of Rotarians, Rotarians On The Internet, and the Fellowship of Rotarian Editors and Publishers.
