I have been a Rotarian since 1998, the reason I joined Rotary was because I am very concerned for Bali’s environment, the river is so polluted, full of Garbage floating around, when I talked to my Dutch friend while we were playing Tennis together, he immediately introduced me to Rotary Club of Bali Nusa Dua and become their member. Since then I have been attending RI Conventions every year, because all the connections for my Matching Grant Projects were started from there.

The first MG started in Indianapolis in 1999, when I met a Canadian Rotarian from D 5370 Alberta on the plane to Indianapolis, that's how my first MG for our Bali Blood Bank began, one year later in 2000, our MG 13359 for US$ 64,500. - and MG 20329 for US$ 37,000. - to buy equipment for our Bali Blood Bank have been approved by RI. When The Bali Bombing happened in 2002, The Bali Blood Bank proved very helpful.

The second Matching Grant was started in Argentina, I met PDG. Theo Boogard from Holland, one year later our Rotary Club Bali Nusa Dua have a joint Project of US$ 25,000.- with RC. Zweindrecht from Holland for our Harelip Project from which we operate on approximately 2 children per week.

The third MG was started in San Antonio, Texas; I met Mike Mills from Kansas City. In 2005 our Rotary Club- Bali Nusa Dua and RC. McPherson has a joint Centennial Project together with Rotary Wheelchairs Foundation for US$ 18,000. - to ship 280 wheelchairs to Bali for the unfortunate children and adults in Bali.

Now Rotary has become part of my life, can never be separated anymore.
