Abigail Agustin
Thank you very much for your warm welcome. I truly feel the warmth of
being part of a new group aside from the Rotary Club I belong to. I feel so
privileged.
Presently, the Rotary Club of Antipolo Centro has 12 active members and
5 honorary members. I am the youngest in the group and first female club
president (RY 2004-2005). I belong to a family of Rotarians (i.e. dad, mom,
brothers and sister). As what my co-members would always say, Though we are few, I believe that our club has
competent and committed members to serve our immediate community.
Our club is currently
taking care of a heart patient, she's 6 years old and she will be our
first preschool scholar for this coming Rotary Year. We were able to tap the
Gift of Life Foundation through the kindness of the Rotary Club of Makati West
but we still need to raise funds for her heart surgery. We are keeping our
fingers crossed that she will be operated on before the end of this year.
I am organizing a new
project entitled "Interfaith, Intercultural Student Exchange". I am
currently going through the Rotary Youth Exchange Program to check on the
guidelines. Why this project?
Because I was inspired by the result of the
student exchange that we had in our school between Al-Azhar High School in
Jakarta, Indonesia and Jose Abad Santos Memorial School, Quezon City,
Philippines. I work for the Academic Affairs of the Philippine Women's
University. I plan to adapt the same program as our club's project. I
hope I could get some pieces of advice from all of you regarding this?
If any of the members will be in our country, please give me a call
anytime!
