Rotary Club of Cumberland Centennial
Yesterday our DG paid us a visit and asked our president to submit an
application for the RI PR award as well as the presidential citation so
I thought I'd submit the following:
The Rotary Club of Cumberland Centennial, BC Canada, D5020 was chartered
on 3 June 2005. Since its 20 charter members began meeting, the club
has grown to 31 members with a net increase of 7 members since 1 July
2007. As one of its projects for the current year, the club set a goal
of raising Rotary's profile in our community and on Vancouver island.
More than 20 news releases have appeared in newspapers and on television
stations and several recorded interviews have been played on the two
radio stations in our community. In all, Rotary's existence and stories
of community and international service have been circulated twice a week
to more than 25,000 homes by our two newspapers. One Island-wide TV
station, with a viewing audience of 363,000 has featured photos and the
stories that accompanied them as often as once each week; a different
story every time. The two radio stations have broadcast the items to
their listening audiences of more than 100,000 people. As the newest
club of four in the Comox Valley Community, we have submitted the
largest number of articles and therefore been featured most often but
the other clubs have also done a great job of getting their stories
out. Our goal of raising Rotary's profile has been reached and the
leadership our club has provided has spurred the more senior clubs to
get their good news out to the public. If you have a look at our
website, you'll see abbreviated news stories and photos on the home
page. www.rotarycc.org
