Water for Mexican Village

PRIP Frank Devlyn

The Zones 29/30 DG Class of 2005-06 chose as its class project the drilling of a deep water well in the rural village of Los Piramides in Mexico. Each of the 24 districts contributed $1,000 DDF toward a matching grant.

A group of 18 Rotarians and friends from four states and five districts traveled to District 4170 near Mexico City on Feb. 20-24 to dedicate this well and several other projects sponsored by District 6560 clubs. The group also developed relationships for future matching grants. In addition to those PDGs in the photo, DG Harry Henderson and Patti (6510) and PDG Jane Molloy (6190) were also on the trip.

The villagers from Los Piramides turned out in large numbers for the dedication that included a delicious lunch prepared by the villagers. To see the children playing in the water and filling up bottles was worth the trip alone!
