A ROTIan suggested that this be in the Breadbasket.. Not a bad idea, since it might help our perennial difficulty with religious postings. Rotary should be non denominational. Each can practice his or her religion but meeting as and gatherings of Rotarians of a single religion as mentioned would lead to division as Catholic Rotarians, Hindu Rotarians or Islamic and Jewish Rotarians. Just imagine each bringing their own religious concepts and having gatherings to propagate their ideas. This will lead to conflicts. We had enough problems with religion for centuries. The world is set to forget our differences and move towards inter-religious dialogue .Rotary is for peace. Rotary is for love.Rotary is for Understanding. We should refrain from jeopardizing this ideals I am of Hindu ancestry, baptized and practicing Catholic , educated in Methodist school and living in a majority Muslim country. There is complete peace , understanding and harmony in religious matters here in my country. My club has members who are Hindus, Muslims Buddhists and Christians. We only speak the language of FELLOWSHIP,SERVICE AND PEACE in Rotary. Rtn.PP. Anthonysamy Francis, Rotary Club of Seremban, R.I District3300 |
