On to San Francisco

Although non of us felt like parting, we had to leave the McCulloughs behind in Escondido on the morning of the 13th of July to wiggle our way up to San Francisco with a "technical" stop at Long Beac h and overnight stops at Ventura, Big Sur, and Monterey.

Just so as not to bore you too much, I'll go right into another photo session.

The "ocean view out of our motel in Ventura

Real breath-taking views in the Big Sur area

Melly and Mark at the beautiful - albeit very expensive -hotel Ventana mapping out the next leg of the trip

Just keeping the plate shaded

Now this is what I would have drunk, had Pilsner Urquell not been available

This space is left open for failure of taking any photos on the 17-mile drive on the Monterey Penninsula, a place where I would not mind owning a dwelling of my own …………

And finally: Arrival in San Francisco, Fisherman's Wharf

A view from the Sausalito side

Sunshine in Sausalito doesn't mean there isn't fog on the Golden Gate Bridge right on top

And here is the climax so far:

A make-up at RC Piedmont-Montclair

RC Piedmont-Montclair is a club of only 13 members. But those members are all high caliber ones, and I am ever so glad that fellow ROTIan and long-standing ICUFR member Bonnie Best has made it possible for Melly and I to make up the re on the 18th of July with Past RI President Cliff Dochterman as guest speaker.

Here are some photographic mementos of the meeting:

Bonnie Best, Razor, and Melly.

Sorry for the bad quality of the photo taken against the light by a novice with digital cameras.

No wonder Bonnie confided in me that her photo appearing on the Rogue's Gallery is unbeatable.

District Governor 5170 Jim Mealey and Past RI President Cliff Dochterman

Bonnie Best on her own this time. Still, I do agree with her that she comes out a lot better on the Rogue's Gallery.

"Real Happiness Is Helping Others" was Cliff Dochterman's Theme during his tenure as RI President.

Thank you, RC Piedmont-Montclair for a fantastic make-up, where the fellowship was just great. No wonder the number of visiting Rotarians and other visitors exceeded by far the number of your club's own membership.

Keep the good work up …………………….
